WEEKEND MOMENTS

Photos taken with my iPhone.

As much as I am sad that fall is right around the corner, I am looking forward to slowing down a bit. It’s a crime here not to make the most of summer, it just doesn’t last very long and then we spend months hiding from the cold and snow indoors. The days become so short that we lose any interest to get up extra early or go back outside in the evening.

This was the last weekend before my sister and her boyfriend head back to Australia today. We all went out friday night (too much tequila), we got together with the fam on Sunday to celebrate my aunt’s birthday and I took Monday off work, planning to spend an extra day with my sister before she goes back to the other end of the planet.

I got up early Monday and spent the morning cleaning my apartment. In the afternoon I met up with the Aussies, we rented bixi bikes and went on a little tour of the microbreweries in Montreal. (Who knew there were so many?) I hadn’t ridden a bicycle in probably 8 years so I was concerned I might you know… die. Needless to say, I built up biking in the city to be much deadlier than it actually was. Drivers are not nearly as bloodthirsty as I expected and Montreal is very bike-friendly. I may look into getting a bixi pass next summer. On our little bike beer tour (my sister created a map and everything), we visited 4 local breweries (they went on to 2 more after I called it a night around 9:30).

Last night, the gang came to my apartment for a drink and goodbyes. We opened a few bottles of wine, listened to some classic 90s alternative rock while played a little air drum and some air violin. Then I kicked them all out so I could go to bed sometime after midnight.

And you know what, next weekend I have NO PLANS. Those have become magical words.
