Linen! Rayon! How I love thee …

I have been thrifting such cool stuff lately! I just haven’t had a chance to stop and photograph everything. Here are a few pieces of clothing I got for a total of 9$ this weekend.

Saturday turned into a great day. After a coffee and a quick frozen Annies breakfast burrito, I went to a quick barre/pilates class then met up with matt – no real plan in mind for the day other than him – haircut, her – salvation army beside his hairdresser. After my class, we did our usual little visit to the church bazaar – where we rarely ever end up leaving with anything because it’s a lot of meh. I did find this great t-shirt dress for 5$, the material is so smooth and I knew it would be a piece I could wear all year round, as a dress, as a tucked in t-shirt or as a layering piece in winter.

We stopped for brunch at Hof Kelsten, one of our favorite bakeries in town. I had a fried egg on some homemade challah french toast. (MMM) Their coffee is a little too strong for me and all the plates come with meat but thats why i have a meat-eating boyfriend. To eat the baby cow off my plate!

Anyhoo – after brunch Matt went to get his hair cut and I went to the salvation army in that part of town because it’s my favorite SA in Montreal. It was a slightly calmer visit. There wasn’t a 2 for 1 sale so i didn’t go crazy. However it’s really remarkable how much of a difference it makes when you walk in with a goal in mind. I’ve been looking for good neutral pieces to add to my closet. They are just so versatile. So I left with these 2 cropped tops, both made in Italy but by different brands. Both made of classic materials. And both 1.99$. WHAT? Ok then. I swear, whoever is pricing in back needs to keep on sipping that whiskey because I love his/her pricing decisions. Except for that chipped mirror they wanted 25$ for. That was not cool.

Our very thrifty day continued as we decided to follow some signs for an estate sale. It was mid-afternoon so we figured pickings would be slim but who can pass up a chance to visit a stranger’s home? Especially when said house has a wolf fur rug (head included) in the children’s room, a small freight elevator in the wall and a bar straight out of 1960 (needless to say, I kinda wanted to move in). Obviously (or surprisingly?) I didn’t leave empty handed. I bought a great old General Electric school wall clock that now sits above my kitchen sink. All in all a pretty effective shopping day.
