After a quick run for lattes and a scone to get the day started on Saturday, we spent the afternoon walking around. We found ourselves starving in little burgundy. A quick search on yelp for anything edible nearby proved fruitful when Matt found Bonny’s. The name was familiar but somehow I had never been to this vegetarian restaurant that was only about a 20 minute walk from my apartment. I ordered the special – eggplant and kale curry over brown rice with a garden salad and Dahl soup and Matt ordered the chili. We both got a drink and then a chai for me and an american for him while we picked at a dark chocolate and walnut brownie with soy ice cream. Everything was DELICIOUS.
Walking back from lunch, we walked by the Palais des Congrès and stopped to watch all the people attending comiccon in costumes. It’s impressive – and a little overwhelming. And that was just outside.
On Sunday afternoon, We went to Matt’s parents place for dinner. They were making cabbage rolls so I thought it would be fun to work alongside making a vegetarian version. I’ve long ago associated cabbage rolls with a gross barfing face. I hated most cooked vegetables when I was a kid and anything that had cabbage or broccoli in it was an instant GROSS. I now like almost everything that grows (I will NEVER enjoy green beans). However when I started thinking about good stuff wrapped in a cabbage leaf and baked – hell that sounded delicious. We used this recipe (with a little tweaking) and though I would have cooked it a LOT longer to soften the cabbage, it was delicious and hearty. Since we had made 2 separate cabbage roll recipes, I came home with lots of leftovers. By the end of the week, I may end up hating cabbage rolls again…. nahhhh.
