Last week was my mom’s birthday so we invited her up to the city to celebrate. I met up with her after work on Friday and brought her shopping – something she doesn’t do for herself often enough. And she actually BOUGHT STUFF! Including some very cute moccasin/boat shoes from Winners. Before dinner, we sat on M’s rooftop, enjoying the sunset and sipping wine. We went out to dinner at La Salle à Manger where I had a delicious morel mushroom and mascarpone ravioli. It was a great little restaurant that caters to vegetarians, definitely somewhere I will visit again.
After my mom treated us to a late breakfast on Saturday, we celebrated (again!) with the family. Sunday was a day to watch movies and take it easy.
Monday was a holiday here – and our first glimpse hot humid summer. We enjoyed the tranquility of the city at 9 am when everyone else is sleeping off a hangover. It felt as if we were on vacation in a different city – the heat felt so out of place after the cold and rain we’ve been having and we took a quiet walk with coffees peeking in stores and looking for a bakery that was open on the holiday.
