After spending a week in San Francisco, I have so many photos to share. In order to avoid my favorite places being lost in a sea of images, I thought I would divide them up to highlight the … highlights of the trip, my favorite places to see and what we did that we enjoyed. Hopefully it might help others plan their visits.
Another item on our to do list was to check out this new TOAST phenomenon in San Francisco. There are (at least) 2 spots in the city that focus on providing great toast to anyone willing to shell out a few bucks for essentially a slice of bread with cinnamon and sugar on top. Being on vacation, we get a free pass to be silly hipsters. But I have to say – if (or rather WHEN) Montreal comes out with a toast joint, I will be one of the first in line. As with most food, toast is so much more enjoyable when someone else prepares it. At the Mill, we ordered the cinnamon toast on cinnamon raisin bread (when in Rome?) and the strawberry jam and salt toast.
My expectations were pretty low for cinnamon toast as I spent much of my childhood eating slices of this for breakfast. But I somehow overdosed on the slices of wonderbread with margarine, cinnamon and sugar. But I must admit – I have a new found love for cinnamon sugar toast on a nice thick slice of bread, with a generous amount of butter.
Also – Matt and I call shotgun on opening a toast place in Montreal. Sorry everyone. Dibs.
