There’s no more denying it, winter weather is here. I got my first taste of snow (this season) on Saturday. Big beautiful snowflakes that put a giant grin on my face. That grin won’t last long when I am trekking to work in freezing weather with ice and slush and disgusting brown ‘snow’ piles on the side of the road. But despite all the downsides of winter (and there are many) I still love a good snowfall. (And I can’t wait to get on the mountain.) A few highlights from my weekend in the country doing what I love… cooking, eating and thrift store hunting.
- Found some pretty amazing things at the church sale – like THIS coat for 10$ – more on the goodies I found in the next post.
- Sifting through people’s trash can work up quite an appetite so I met a friend for a second breakfast and too many cups of coffee.
- Cooked up A STORM. It was not thanksgiving in Canada but that didn’t stop me.
- My mom and I tried this recipe for fig newtons – things got a little sticky (literally) but we managed and they were delicious (post on THAT coming soon).
- And I got a chance to try this recipe for vegetarian lentil sloppy joes (delicious and easy).
- When I got back home, I spent a few hours doing dishes then decided to dirty a whole bunch more by making a vegetarian lasagna. (I’m so excited about leftovers for lunch.)
- And to finish off the weekend, I went to see Wreck it Ralph – which just made me want to eat candy for the length of the movie. (if you see it, you’ll understand.)
