my beautiful baby – Hurley
I spent the weekend visiting my parents outside the city. I love going out there every 3-4 weeks to get a break from the fast paced city, visit with my parents and old friends and enjoy the small town life for a couple days. This weekend was cold and rainy so most of it was spent indoors cooking, eating and snuggling on the couch watching movies with Hurley. A few highlights…
- A long bus ride spent listening to music, reading and looking out the windows into the dark. I spend way too many hours every week on a bus but the 2 hour bus ride to visit my parents is almost relaxing.
- I got up early Saturday to head up to the church sale with my mom. I came home with lots of goodies – kitchen stuff, a globe, some vintage clothing and even a 4$ light winter jacket.
- Hurley and I took a cold rainy walk around town, and it still shocks me when strangers on the street say hi or start a conversation with me. This girl has gotten way too used to cranky city folk.
- I love cooking at my parents place, my mom’s been cooking much longer than me so she’s my wikipedia of baking questions and she loves cleaning up [hallelujah cuz I dirty every dish in the kitchen when I cook] We made vegetarian chilli [with squash and sweet potato] and sweet potato cornbread. And then some apple cheddar scones. Gotta put on the winter lbs so I don’t freeze my butt off for the next 6 months.
- I skipped going out to the pub with friends in favor of waking up with a clear head and a good night’s sleep to go meet friends for an early breakfast to catch up on the town gossip and be our usual loud ridiculous selves
- And then back home to clean and try not to die from the excessive amount of coffee from breakfast. I can’t say no to free refills.
that is so cute.
