Montreal | Brunch @ Dépanneur Le Pickup

Dépanneur le pickup has been on my radar for quite some time. After trying their vegetarian ‘pulled pork’ burger at Osheage 2 years ago, I knew I had to eventually make my way to their restaurant. I can’t believe it took so long for me to finally make my way to the tiny little restaurant/dépanneur (french word for corner store) but I finally did and am here to tell the tale.

The delicious food was made all the more enjoyable by the atmosphere we enjoyed it in. On top of their minimal indoor seating, they have multiple picnic tables around the front, side and in the little backyard and we picked a sunny spot to enjoy our sunday brunch. I had their breakfast sandwich with their homemade fakon (vegan bacon substitute) and matt devoured his breakfast tacos in mere seconds. We probably should have ordered a side dish or 2 but as it was our first time, we weren’t sure what to expect. The prices were peanuts compared to our usual favorite weekend spots that can easily turn into a 60$ brunch for 2 people.

This place is extremely vegetarian friendly and on a really quiet residential street so you can bet your bottom dollar that we will be back for lunch and surely more breakfasts this summer.

And as a bonus, since this place is also a real dépanneur, you can stock up on beer while you’re there. Or maybe get yourself some homemade ice cream sandwiches!
