GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE | SAN FRANCISCO

SF-bridge-8

I’m skipping ahead to our last day in San Francisco because we visited 2 of my favorite spots from the trip. The golden gate bridge (and surrounding area) is really a beautiful spot. We took the subway and then a bus across the bridge from the mission on our last full day in San Francisco. Bussing across and then walking on the bridge back was definitely a good idea. Walking one direction is more than enough to take in the views.

What originally was estimated as a 40 minute walk (by me – oops) to the restaurant for dinner post-bridge, turned out to be a (winding, confusing, at some point zombie town-esque) construction detouring few hours. As it turned out, with a few breaks for me to plop down on a park bench or patch of grass, it turned out to be a nice walk.

Had we not walked along the water, we would have missed out on the old man fishing in the bay with the bridge as a beautiful backdrop, we wouldn’t have witnessed the brave windsurfers suiting up and heading out to take advantage of the windy weather. I watched, impressed, intrigued and mostly thinking how cold they must be, as I reminisced about the Barbie windsurfing board of my youth. Which might be the closest I’ll get to the true thing.
