Long weekends don’t happen nearly enough. I made the best of the 3 days off. Friday night we barbecued with my sister and her boyfriend. It was quite an adventure that included a lot of macgyver-ing. But in the end, we all ended up well fed.
On Saturday, after sitting in traffic for an hour and half, we visited my mom and went to the flea market and to some garage sales. I came home with the above goodies. Though I was disappointed that the traffic getting out of the city made us miss the church sale, I still ended up with some good stuff. Sunday, despite feeling lazy, I went to my aerial silks class and got a good workout. At night, we tried this recipe for vegan paella. Will definitely be making this again. A lot of ingredients and steps, but worth the time.
On Monday – lovely Victoria day, how I love you so for keeping me out of work – I got some serious work done on the apartment. I painted an old mirror I had found on the side of the road, patched up & painted some holes in the walls (I make holes THEN measure) and moved a few things around. It’s a work in progress but it’s feeling more like a cozy home. And finished off the long weekend by baking some delicious – if I do say so myself – rhubarb muffins.
