WEEKEND MOMENTS

Nothing was really planned this weekend. The weatherman said rain all weekend and as usual he was wrong.

Friday we decided to take it easy and stay in to cook. We made penne with a vodka sauce while (re)watching Orange is the New Black. After we stuffed our faces with heavy pasta and red wine, we went out for a walk – to enjoy the last of the warm days of early fall and to get something to satisfy my unsatisfiable sweet tooth. We walked through the darkened streets of the plateau and stopped for some chocolate ginger gelato.

Saturday we had an early brunch at Arts Cafe then walked around the mile end, window shopping and local bakery bread buying. On Sunday, I stumbled into a an abandonned-shop-turned-used clothing store. The handwritten sign indicating that everything was 2$ made me cross the threshold eagerly. I picked up heels, t-shirts, boots, jackets, debating what I really should take home considering I only had 5.90$ in my wallet. I settled for a pair of levi jeans I will convert to essential summer shorts for next year and some white Adidas sneakers that are a welcome addition to my currently white-less shoe collection.

In the afternoon, I watched season 3 of Grey’s Anatomy, cried for Meredith’s woes and attempted to reproduce the eggplant, chickpea and kale curry I had at Bonny’s last weekend. I tried this recipe which had the right ingredients but left me very disappointed in the final result. The lacklustre curry was overshadowed by the raw brownies I later made (with peanuts inside and a not-so-raw roasted peanut/chocolate icing).
