PROJECT | MILAN POLE DANCE STUDIO

I had the pleasure of photographing some very talented ladies from Milan Pole Dance Studio here in Montréal this fall. They needed some photos of the staff for their social media and email marketing and I was happy to oblige.

I’ve been going to Milan’s studio, taking pole classes for just under 2 years. Pole dancing is a growing form of fitness and performance that should not be underestimated. It takes hard work, determination and a high tolerance of pain. [Trust me]
What makes Milan stand out is their professional staff, impeccably clean studio and the natural light that bounces off the mirrors and white brick walls surrounding the space. I’m a sucker for white walls and minimalistic design. On top of it all, the studio is located in old Montreal so it’s a beautiful neighbourhood to walk through.

Now taking photos of pole poses is no simple feat – many of the positions the girls put themselves into for these photos are very uncomfortable, painful and lets be honest, sometimes a little dangerous to hold for extended amounts of time. So it’s important to get the shot fast – to avoid any unnecessary discomfort… or casualties.

I really wanted to use the natural light in the studio and include the reflections of the girls in the mirror. Luckily we were all on the same page and the girls were very flexible (pun intended) to get the right angles.

Here are a few of my favorites and you can see more photos from this shoot by clicking here to see the images in my portfolio section. Isabelle, who organized the shoot was very organized, took the project seriously and was a pleasure to work with, as always.

Much love and respect to all my pole teachers.
