It took a little while before I finally found myself in Arts Cafe, a hip little joint in the mile end. I definitely judge a place by it’s website and this cafe/restaurant has a basic website with logo, opening hours and a list of menu items. To add to my lack of interest, despite serving alcohol, they close at 9 during the week and 5 on weekends. Needless to say, I wasn’t sold on the idea of the place. Until I walked in the door for a drink meet up. I fell in love with the cute decor and extremely vegetarian-friendly menu. I immediately informed Matt that we NEEDED to go there for brunch one day.
We have a rotation of brunch spots around Matt’s place that we love and this one was quickly added to the list. I enjoyed sitting on the terrace outside, sipping on lemonade and eating waffles topped with rhubarb and apples back in June. I’m a fan of their extensive tea list and the fact that they all come with a set timer so your tea is perfect when you take that first sip. This time around, we sat inside by the windows enjoying the little bit of late summer sunshine. Matt had eggs but I wanted something a little less greasy after our walk so I tried out the marinated miso tofu and it was just what I was in the mood for. I love eggs for breakfast so I wouldn’t give them up but this is a great option for vegans.
