Don’t you love it when your thrift store purchases are colour coordinated? HA, I sure do. Plus this is just such a great shade of yellow, very 60’s.
So as you can see it was a slightly more subdued shopping experience at the church sale this past weekend. Matt and I made another Saturday of thrift/snowboard/visit my parents. That’s just what happens when you go twice in 3 weekends, there is a lot more of the same stuff you already rummaged through. On top of the above finds, I also came home with a beautiful herringbone skirt made in Italy with a slight sparkle to it.
I am constantly losing umbrellas, forgotten somewhere in public transportation. And most of the ones you can buy these days just aren’t made to last or withstand any substantial wind. So I’m always down for a cheap second-hand umbrella – hoping if it’s lasted this long, it may last me a while too.
I tried to find information about this umbrella online to figure out its decade and country of origin but no luck! I did find this through wikipedia: When it was first imported from China to Japan it [the oranda goldfish] was mistakenly thought to be native to Holland, and was therefore dubbed the “Dutch Ironmask” from which its English name “oranda” derives. Does this clear anything up? not really. However it KINDA explains the dutch feel to the landscape printed on the umbrella. I’m always curious how items like this end up in my little small town church basement.
‘walking in the rain’ ;) love the 2nd pic. Em !
