MOVING DAY

moving

This is a fairly accurate portrayal of the state of my new apartment. 80% of my stuff is moved – in addition to my brand spanking ‘new’ white tulip table with 4 matching chairs (more on that later).

The place has been pretty neglected the past… hmmm decade? It’s obvious that lots of students passed through here with no long term plans. No one seemed to be aware that painter’s tape DOES in fact exist. Also – putting the fridge over the corner of the floor that is missing tiles is a good decision, that is until someone decides to move the fridge somewhere where it does not block the window. Sigh…

Luckily, I have some awesome people in my life who came to help me clean the gunk off/out of pretty much every surface. We patched up the holes in the walls and I started painting the kitchen yesterday. There is still a fair amount of work to be done before I can sit down with my feet up and relax.

Everyone agreed this place was more ‘me’ with its charming details. On the down side – I really miss all the natural morning light I used to get. Being on the first floor with a building just a few feet across the way means very little direct sunshine – huge change from the my previous sunny studio. Above is about the most sun I get in afternoon. BUT I will make the best of what I get! I’m saving a bit of money on rent in this new place, I love the neighbourhood and I have windows in every room. Need to work on that shower water pressure though…
