We just got back a few hours ago. I made a tomato & cheese sandwich from some leftovers from the trip, put on an episode of Friends and here we are. Our summer mini vacation is over and it’s back to work tomorrow. We spent the last 4 days in Saugerties and Woodstock, NY, in a little barn house we rented on airbnb.
We arrived Friday afternoon and explored the cute little town of Woodstock (yes, THAT Woodstock) and had lunch at the Garden Cafe, a cute little vegan restaurant. We checked out some shops, picked up a few essential groceries for the weekend and headed to the barn house, our home for the weekend.
We spent the next few days, hiking, dipping in waterholes, visiting a farm animal sanctuary, eating carbs, watching movies and sleeping in. The animal sanctuary was surprisingly one of the highlights of the weekend, we got to meet some great animals that were rescued from abusive situations. Pigs, goats, chickens, horses (including a few blind ones) and other sweet animals all live in this donation funded sanctuary. Matt got to hold his first rooster, I think he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The highlight of the weekend for me was when I finally got to lay on an inner-tube in a water hole. That was all I wanted to do all summer. And though it was near the end of the day and the water was none too hot, I savoured the moment.
